PETER WILLETT'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN BOLTON: CHILDHOOD DESTROYED BY MONSTER
In April 2013, a disturbing case emerged from Bolton involving the heinous crimes committed by Peter Willett, a man whose actions have left lifelong scars on his young victims.Willett, aged 25 and without a fixed address, was found guilty of repeatedly raping a young boy over a period of three years, beginning when the victim was only seven years old.
The assaults took place at various locations across Bolton, a town known for its close-knit community, but these crimes shattered the innocence of the young boy and left a lasting impact on his life.
Willett’s criminal behavior extended beyond this, as he also sexually assaulted a girl who was approximately eight years old at the time.
The details of these crimes reveal a pattern of predatory behavior that persisted over several years, with the victims only finding the courage to come forward and report the abuse once they had grown older and felt able to speak out.
The severity of the crimes and the betrayal of trust have prompted a strong response from law enforcement authorities.
At Minshull Street Crown Court, Willett pleaded guilty to the charges against him and was subsequently sentenced to six years in prison.
The court’s decision reflects the gravity of his offenses and the need to protect the community from further harm.
Detective Constable Nicola Wood, a member of the Serious Sexual Offences Unit, expressed her support for the victims and emphasized the importance of their bravery in coming forward.
She stated, “I’d like to praise both victims for having the courage to speak up about the years of abuse they have suffered, and I hope this prison sentence brings them some comfort.
Their childhoods were destroyed by Willett and in the boy’s case in particular he was subjected to regular sexual assaults and rapes from around the age of seven.” Law enforcement agencies, including the Serious Sexual Offences Unit, continue to work diligently to address such cases, ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.
They also encourage anyone who believes they have been a victim of sexual assault to seek help.
Individuals can contact Greater Manchester Police directly at 101 or reach out to St Mary’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre at 0161 276 6515 for support and guidance.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need to protect vulnerable children from predators like Peter Willett, whose actions have left indelible scars on the community of Bolton.
