January 2015 Man jailed after he admitted possessing and making indecent images of children Peter Vlasto, 58, appeared at Norwich Crown Court yesterday to be sentenced after previously admitting two counts of possession of indecent images and a further count of making indecent images. The offences, which happened between 2008 and 2013, included about 30 images of class A – the most serious. The court heard police in this country were tipped off by Canadian authorities. Vlasto, of Long Gores, Hickling, near Great Yarmouth, was found to have the images, including some of children as young as five, on his computer. Sentencing Vlasto to a total of 12 months imprisonment, Judge Stephen Holt said he would be failing in his public duty if he did not impose an immediate custodial sentence. He said some of the children were as young as young as five at the time the images were taken and now “trying to live with what someone did to them at the age of five”. Ian James, for Vlasto, who the court heard had previous convictions for similar offences, had a “deep seated problem that goes back through the whole of his adult life”. But Mr James said Vlasto was an intelligent man, who went to Cambridge University, and would take any help offered to him to deal with his problem. Vlasto was also made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order (SOPO) for 10 years.
