PETER TOMLINSON'S HORRIFIC CHILD SEX ABUSE ON THE ISLE OF WIGHT AND BEYOND
In a shocking turn of events, Peter Tomlinson, a well-known businessman and former president of the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous child sexual abuse offences. The case, which has garnered significant media attention, reveals a disturbing pattern of exploitation involving online abuse, live-streamed sexual acts, and the payment for illicit services involving minors.
Tomlinson, aged 63, appeared at the Isle of Wight Crown Court for sentencing after admitting to multiple charges related to child sexual abuse.
The court heard that he had previously confessed to 12 charges, but during the recent proceedings, eight additional charges were brought forward, representing a broader scope of his criminal activities.
Prosecutors described these as a sample of numerous other offences uncovered during the investigation.
The investigation revealed that Tomlinson engaged in disturbing online activities, including paying a Filipino mother to perform sexual acts on her children, aged ten and twelve, over a period spanning two to three years.
He also paid her for indecent photographs of the children.
These acts of abuse were carried out via the internet, with Tomlinson attempting to justify his actions as an 'escape from reality' when questioned by officers from the National Crime Agency (NCA).
He was remanded in custody following an initial hearing at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on November 18 and has remained detained since then.
The NCA’s investigation uncovered that Tomlinson paid a total of £5,511 through 127 transactions to accounts in the Philippines between May 2015 and April 2017, specifically for live-streamed child sexual abuse.
In addition, he spent approximately £10,000 on adult pornography and other related content.
Further evidence revealed that Tomlinson paid for the sexual exploitation of children through various channels, including making 47 Category A images, 148 Category B images, and 353 Category C images.
His communications with a Filipino facilitator, who has since been arrested and children safeguarded, included over 4,166 messages exchanged via Skype—comprising 358 video calls and 3,809 text messages.
In one notable exchange from January 2019, Tomlinson offered to pay £7.66 if a woman performed a sexual act on a girl.
The charges also include seven counts of paying for the sexual services of a girl under 13, with one involving bestiality and a five-year-old child.
He is also accused of paying for the sexual services of a girl under 18.
These offences span from January 1, 2017, to October 10, 2019, and involve various disturbing acts, including live-streamed abuse and attempts to pay for sexual acts involving minors.
Tomlinson’s profile as a prominent figure in the Isle of Wight community was well known.
He was involved in several local businesses, including JR Zone, a children’s soft play business, which has since changed ownership, and the Education Destination, which organized school visits to the island.
Despite his community standing, his criminal activities have now come to light, revealing a dark side that shocked many.
In February 2021, further charges were added, including seven counts of paying for the sexual services of a girl under 13, with some counts involving penetration and others not.
Additional charges included attempting to pay for sexual acts involving a girl aged 13 to 15, and paying for the sexual services of a girl aged 16 or 17.
These offences involved acts such as oral sex with a dog and participation in live sex shows, with payments made or attempted to six different women concerning eight children.
The offences occurred between 2017 and 2019.
During a court appearance via video link, Tomlinson faced these new allegations, which further detailed his disturbing activities.
He had previously admitted to multiple counts, including causing or inciting sexual exploitation of children, making indecent images, and paying for live-streamed abuse.
His electronic devices contained numerous indecent images, including 47 of the most severe Category A images, along with other categories and extreme content.
In December 2020, Tomlinson admitted to extensive child sexual abuse charges after a comprehensive investigation by the NCA.
He pleaded guilty to 12 counts, including paying for live-streamed abuse and possessing indecent images.
The evidence showed that he repeatedly paid facilitators in the Philippines for the abuse of young girls, some as young as ten.
His communications revealed a pattern of requesting increasingly severe content, with him demanding 'harder' abuse footage and expressing dissatisfaction with what he received.
His devices contained a significant number of illegal images, and further victims are believed to be involved, with ongoing investigations.
Today, at Newport Magistrates’ Court, Tomlinson formally admitted to multiple charges, including paying for the sexual services of minors and encouraging or assisting in offences.
He is scheduled for sentencing at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on March 5.
His case has shocked the local community and highlights the ongoing fight against child exploitation and online abuse, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and law enforcement efforts to protect vulnerable children from predators like Peter Tomlinson.
