PETER LLOYD FROM DARLINGTON CAUGHT WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IMAGES IN SHOCKING POLICE RAID
In December 2012, a disturbing case unfolded involving Peter Lloyd, a married man residing in Darlington, who was found to be in possession of numerous child pornography images. The incident came to light after internet investigators alerted local authorities about suspicious activity on his computer.
Initially, Lloyd, aged 39, denied any involvement in searching for or viewing such illicit material.
He claimed that he had stumbled upon the images unintentionally while browsing for adult pornography.
However, a thorough examination of his computer equipment by forensic experts revealed a different story.
Prosecutor Sue Jacobs informed Teesside Crown Court that Lloyd had, in fact, actively viewed and sought out these vile images.
Among the approximately 150 images discovered on his device, there were two depicting a six-month-old baby, with others involving children aged between three and eight years old.
The graphic nature of these images was described as particularly disturbing by the court.
Judge Tony Briggs addressed Lloyd directly, emphasizing the severity of the offense.
He stated, “The images are disgusting.
They fuel a disgusting trade, and the trade is one which inevitably involves the abuse of children.
For that reason, it is serious.” As a result of his actions, Lloyd was sentenced to a three-month prison term, which was suspended, meaning he would not serve time immediately but would be under supervision.
Additionally, he was ordered to participate in a sex offenders’ treatment program to address his behavior.
During the court proceedings, Lloyd’s legal representative, Ian West, provided insight into his client’s personal circumstances.
West revealed that Lloyd’s wife remained supportive despite discovering his involvement with such disturbing material following the police raid on September 4 of the previous year.
West explained that social services had initially prevented Lloyd from seeing his three children, but recent arrangements had allowed him supervised visits.
He emphasized that Lloyd’s wife considered him a good father, despite the secret he had kept.
Lloyd faced a total of 17 charges, including 16 counts of making indecent images of children and one count of possession.
The police had raided his home on The Broadway in Darlington after receiving a tip-off from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Service, which led to the discovery of the illicit material.
Furthermore, Lloyd was ordered to undergo two years of supervision, aimed at monitoring his behavior and preventing any future offenses.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable victims from such heinous crimes.
