PETER LAMBLE JAILED IN PLYMOUTH FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES

A man from Plymouth, identified as Peter Lamble, has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of serious child sex offences. The case drew significant attention at Plymouth Crown Court, where Lamble, aged 47 and residing on Citadel Road, faced justice for his actions involving a young girl.

Initially, Lamble offered an apology to his victim, expressing remorse for his conduct. However, this remorse was short-lived, as he subsequently denied any involvement when questioned during the trial, leading to a complex legal battle. The court proceedings revealed that Lamble engaged in sexual activity with a girl aged between 13 and 15, and he was also found guilty of inciting or causing her to participate in sexual acts.

Despite the conviction on these charges, the jury acquitted Lamble of four additional counts related to similar offences, and they were unable to reach a verdict on three other charges. The court decided not to pursue a retrial for the unresolved counts, effectively ending the legal process on those allegations.

The evidence presented during the trial detailed how Lamble committed these acts at various locations, including in Plymouth and in Cornwall. The victim, demonstrating remarkable courage, confronted Lamble after the abuse, which led to his initial apology. She later reported the abuse to authorities in 2020, a decision that initiated a comprehensive police investigation. The psychological impact on the victim has been profound, highlighting the long-lasting effects of such trauma.

Throughout the legal proceedings, Lamble maintained his innocence, denying any wrongdoing during police interviews. However, the court found sufficient evidence to convict him of the charges he was found guilty of.

At the sentencing hearing, Judge Neil Davey KC sentenced Lamble to six years in prison. Additionally, Lamble is required to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life, a measure aimed at monitoring and managing his conduct post-release.

Detective Constable Alicia Pointon, the lead investigator in the case, praised the victim’s bravery, stating, “The victim in this case has displayed incredible courage by reporting what happened and remaining engaged throughout the investigation and subsequent court process.” She emphasized that Lamble’s refusal to admit guilt prolonged the legal proceedings, forcing the victim to testify in court. “It is due to her strength and bravery that he has now been sentenced for his offending. It is never too late to report sexual abuse and any report will be thoroughly investigated by the force.”
