ALFORD PAEDOPHILE PETER JOHNSON CAUGHT WITH CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN LINCOLN
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Alford, Peter Johnson, a 55-year-old computer repair technician, was brought before Lincoln Crown Court on Monday, December 4, facing serious allegations related to the possession and creation of indecent images of children. The case emerged after police executed a warrant at Johnson’s residence in May 2016, uncovering a troubling collection of illicit material stored on his computer equipment.During the raid, law enforcement officers discovered a significant amount of digital evidence, including a computer tower situated near Johnson’s bed, with a USB stick inserted into it. Additionally, a computer hard drive was found stored within a plastic box in a bedroom storage unit. The police investigation revealed that the majority of the indecent images and videos originated from the USB device, which contained over 420 indecent images of children, some as young as two years old. The footage included more than 17 hours of video content, with one particular film lasting an astonishing six hours and 37 minutes.
When questioned by authorities, Johnson claimed that he was a computer expert running a repair business and insisted that he must have been hacked or that the illicit material had been unknowingly stored on his devices through the use of other people's computers. He suggested that the images and videos could have come from his customers or that his systems had been compromised through a hacking incident involving his internet provider, TalkTalk.
Prosecutor Jonathan Dunne outlined the gravity of the case, stating, “A police warrant was executed at the defendant’s home address. Significant items were found in his bedroom. By his bed was a computer tower and inserted into it was a USB stick. A computer hard drive was in a plastic box in a storage unit in the bedroom. The overwhelming majority of the still and moving images came from the USB stick.”
Johnson was charged with three counts of making indecent photographs of children and an additional charge of possessing a prohibited image of a child. Despite his claims of innocence and innocence of hacking, the evidence against him was substantial.
Judge Simon Hirst ordered that sentencing be postponed to allow for a probation report to be prepared. Johnson was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to return to court on December 20. In addressing Johnson, Judge Hirst warned, “You must understand that the overwhelmingly likely sentence is one of immediate custody,” highlighting the severity of the charges and the potential consequences he faces.
