PETER HORSFIELD AND HIS SHOCKING CHILD ABUSE IN DONCASTER
A convicted paedophile has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after abusing young children in and around Doncaster.Peter Horsfield, aged 82 and residing in Meadow Rise, Barnby Dun, was sentenced to ten years in prison following his conviction on multiple charges.
The Sheffield Crown Court found Horsfield guilty of seven counts of sexual assault against children under the age of 13.
His offending spanned a period from 2004 to 2021, highlighting a prolonged pattern of abuse.
The gravity of his actions came to light when one of his young victims confided in her mother, prompting an investigation that uncovered the extent of Horsfield’s crimes.
Throughout the trial and subsequent proceedings, authorities emphasized the bravery exhibited by the victims.
Detective Sergeant Lucy Garside, who was involved in the case, commended the victims’ “exceptional courage and strength” in coming forward despite the traumatic experiences they endured.

Garside explained that Horsfield had deliberately sought opportunities to isolate children, preying on their innocence in order to carry out his abuse.
She described his actions as calculated and exploitative, noting that Horsfield “sought opportunities” to get the children alone and then “took advantage of their innocence.” The severity of the crimes committed by Horsfield has left a lasting impact on the victims’ lives and mental health.
The detective highlighted that the abuse inflicted upon children has caused significant harm, with long-lasting consequences.
Following his sentencing, Horsfield was not only sentenced to imprisonment but also placed on the sex offenders' register for life.
Furthermore, authorities announced that upon his release, he will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order, aimed at preventing any further harm and monitoring his activities.
