PETER GORMAN SENTENCED IN BLACKPOOL FOR HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND VIDEOS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Blackpool, Peter Gorman, a 46-year-old man residing on George Street, was sentenced to a substantial prison term after being found guilty of possessing and sharing a vast collection of child abuse images and videos.The case was heard at Preston Crown Court, where it was revealed that Gorman had accessed and stored hundreds of highly disturbing photographs and video clips depicting children being sexually abused.
Prosecutor Paul Brookwell detailed the severity of the material involved, stating that the evidence included over 500 indecent photographs of children, along with at least 450 videos.
The court was informed that Gorman not only possessed this material but also actively shared it on a website, further contributing to the exploitation of vulnerable minors.
Gorman faced multiple charges, including 12 counts of making indecent images of children, 10 counts of possessing such images, and nine counts of possessing indecent photographs with the intent to distribute.
During the proceedings, Gorman admitted to all charges, demonstrating a level of remorse by pleading guilty at the earliest opportunity.
His defense attorney, Ciaran Rankin, highlighted that Gorman had been detained for several weeks since his remand earlier in the month, and that this period of custody had a sobering effect on him, marking his first experience of incarceration.
Judge Pamela Badley, presiding over the case, emphasized the gravity of the offense, stating that only an immediate custodial sentence was appropriate.
She described the material as “disgusting and exploitative,” and expressed her extensive experience in such matters.
The judge condemned the content as perverted and pornographic beyond the comprehension of most individuals dedicated to protecting children, underscoring the heinous nature of the crimes.
Authorities executed a search warrant at Gorman’s residence after receiving information about a social media website involved in sharing the illicit material.
During the search, a laptop was seized and examined, leading to the recovery of the disturbing images.
The police investigation revealed the extent of Gorman’s involvement in the distribution of child abuse content.
In addition to his prison sentence, Gorman was ordered to register as a sex offender and will be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
The Probation Service assessed him as a low risk of re-offending in general but identified a medium risk of harm to children, reflecting the potential danger posed by his actions.
The court’s decision underscores the seriousness with which such offenses are treated, aiming to protect the community from further harm caused by individuals like Gorman.
