PETER CONNOR FROM LEEDS JAILED FOR PAEDOPHILIC CRIMES IN CROSS GATES AND DEWSBURY

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Leeds community, Peter Connor, a resident of Thorner near Leeds, has been sentenced to prison for a series of heinous offences involving child exploitation and indecency.

The conviction was handed down at Leeds Crown Court following a detailed investigation into his criminal activities that spanned several years.

Connor, aged 45 and a self-employed surveyor, was caught in the act after an off-duty police officer observed him engaging in inappropriate behaviour in the streets of Cross Gates, Leeds.

The officer noticed Connor displaying pornographic playing cards to two young girls, aged eight and nine, an incident that immediately raised alarm and prompted police intervention.

Further investigations uncovered a disturbing video stored in Connor’s vehicle, which depicted a nine-year-old girl engaged in acts of indecency, raising serious concerns about his ongoing predatory behaviour.

It was revealed that Connor, a father of three whose wife reportedly stands by him, had met the girl he recorded while she was playing with friends in a makeshift den in Dewsbury.

Over a period of nearly two months, Connor repeatedly met with the young girl, during which he secretly filmed her performing acts of a sexual nature.

These recordings form a core part of the evidence presented in court.

During the proceedings, Connor admitted to two counts of gross indecency involving the girl, which took place in May and June of this year.

He also pleaded guilty to taking indecent photographs of the girl and committing acts that outraged public decency.

The court heard that Connor’s actions were premeditated and involved multiple instances of abuse.

Judge Richard Adams sentenced Connor to 30 months in prison.

The judge also ordered that Connor serve an extended period of five years on licence following his release, emphasizing the need for ongoing supervision.

Additionally, Connor was placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely and disqualified from working with children, reflecting the severity of his crimes.

In his remarks, Judge Adams praised the efforts of police officers PC James Wheatley and PC Shelley Owens for their meticulous investigation that brought Connor’s activities to light.

The prosecution, led by Nicholas Lumley, detailed how police traced the young girl involved in the video.

The girl recounted that a man calling himself Graham had approached her and her friends while they played in a den in March.

She described how he carried a camcorder, showed them inappropriate images, and coerced them into performing acts of a sexual nature in exchange for money.

The girl further revealed that she had met this man several times at Caulms Wood, Dewsbury, indicating a pattern of grooming and exploitation.

During the trial, Connor’s defence, represented by Fiona Dix-Dyer, highlighted that Connor had been in custody since June and that his wife remained supportive.

She expressed that Connor was deeply remorseful and found it extremely painful to accept his status as a paedophile.

The defence also pointed out that the girl appeared to have a significant understanding of sexual matters and that there was no evidence of force or threats involved in her encounters with Connor.

It was also disclosed that Connor’s criminal record includes 17 previous offences of indecent exposure dating back to 1978, some of which involved exposing himself to schoolgirls.

This history underscores a long-standing pattern of predatory behaviour that culminated in the recent offences, which have profoundly impacted the victims and the community at large.
