AYR MAN PLEADS GUILTY AFTER THREATENING EX-PARTNER AND THROWING FOOD IN THE STREET
An Ayr man threatened his ex-partner and threw food at her, causing a disturbance in the street.Paul Thompson, aged 40, pleaded guilty to four charges in court.
The incident occurred on January 12 this year when Thompson assaulted his former partner in Alloway Street and threw food at her.
He also shouted and made offensive remarks to her, and damaged the window of a nearby takeaway.
Thompson then directed abusive language at police officers who arrived, calling them "f****** c****" and "black b*******".
The court was informed he had been in a relationship with the woman for 22 years, which ended six months prior to the incident.
His solicitor indicated that Thompson believed there was a chance to rekindle their relationship and that the incident was triggered after discovering she was seeing someone else.
The sheriff warned Thompson that he was close to custody and instructed him to change his behavior.
He was sentenced to a community payback order with two years of social work supervision, ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid work, and to attend the Caledonian Men's Programme to address behaviors leading to domestic abuse offending.
