BLACKBURN MAN CONVICTED FOR ASSAULTING EX-PARTNER AND HER SON
A 46-year-old man named Paul Steven Barnes from Crediton Close, Blackburn, was convicted after a trial of two charges of assault.
The incident occurred when Barnes visited his ex-partner's home after drinking and became aggressive.
He climbed over the backyard wall and accused his former partner of seeing someone else.
During the altercation, Barnes threatened to kill her son if he didn’t move, then kneed the boy in the face while he was calling the police.
Barnes also body-slammed the woman to the ground and stomped on her head.
The woman’s son later told police that Barnes had 'behaved like an animal.' As a result of his actions, Barnes was sentenced to 12 months of community supervision with a 30-day rehabilitation requirement, ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work, and pay £100 compensation to the woman, £150 to her son, along with £500 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
