March 2020 Man made hundreds of indecent images of children A 60 year-old man has admitted making 137 indecent photographs and one film of a child, which were ranked as the highest category A images. Paul Andrew Smalec, of Hendra Vean, Truro, also pleaded guilty to two further charges relating to the making of 15 category B images and 189 photographs and three films rated as category C. Appearing before Truro magistrates on Monday, the court was told that Smalec committed the offences between January 1, 2014 and July 15, 2017. Prosecutor Anita Kennett said an aggravating factor was that the defendant had attempted to burn one of the devices after hearing that police intended to visit him on December 26. Smalec, who was convicted for 12 similar offences in 2004, will be sentenced at Truro Crown Court on April 9.
