CYCLIST JAILED FOR DELIBERATELY RIDING INTO EX-GIRLFRIEND AND HER PARTNER
A man named Paul Gallon, aged 37, who was involved in an incident where he rode his bicycle into his former girlfriend Holly Blake and her new partner William Nicholson, has been sentenced to 11 and a half years in jail.The attack took place in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, in November 2016.
Holly Blake, who was targeted in the attack, is now registered disabled, and William Nicholson suffered long-term injuries as well.
Gallon previously admitted to causing grievous bodily harm and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The Newcastle Crown Court heard that Gallon's three-month relationship with Ms Blake had ended five weeks prior to the attack.
After seeing her and her new partner walking past the shop where he worked, Gallon gave chase on his mountain bike and deliberately rode into them at high speed along Esplanade Place.
Ms Blake was knocked unconscious and sustained significant head injuries, while Mr Nicholson was also knocked to the ground and subsequently punched and stamped on by Gallon.
The judge, Stephen Earl, dismissed Gallon's claim that Mr Nicholson was the aggressor, calling it "fanciful." Gallon was subsequently jailed for his actions.
