PATRIK LUKACS AND SHOCKING ASSAULT IN BRADFORD
A distressing incident occurred in Bradford last year that had a profound impact on a young woman’s life, leading her to abandon her employment due to safety concerns. The woman, whose identity must remain confidential for legal reasons, was subjected to a series of unsettling events while on her way to work.
It was around 6 a.m.
on Manchester Road when she was walking to her place of employment.
During this early morning walk, she became increasingly aware of a man named Patrik Lukacs, aged 27, who was crossing the road and then walking directly behind her.
The tension escalated as she recognized his presence close on her heels.
The situation was brought to court on a Friday in Bradford Crown Court, where details of the harassment and assault were revealed.
Lukacs, who lives at Denbury Mount in Holme Wood, Bradford, and is described as a father in a long-term relationship, initially approached the woman with inappropriate comments, telling her she was 'looking good' and asking for her phone number.
The prosecutor, Philip Standfast, explained that the woman refused to give Lukacs her contact details.
She attempted to defuse the situation by suggesting that he could add her on Facebook instead.
However, Lukacs’s behavior took a disturbing turn as he continued to follow her through the streets, eventually tracking her to the Ripley Street area.
Witnesses or reports described how he began physically groping her, including groping her bottom and areas between her legs.
Mr.
Standfast stated, 'He went to hug her from behind and tried to pick her up.' The woman repeatedly told him 'no' and resisted his advances.
Despite her refusals, Lukacs persisted and attempted to physically lift her, trying to take her into a nearby alleyway near some residential flats.
During this confrontation, he tried to grasp her hand, but the woman stood her ground, clearly stating that she was not going with him because she had to get to work.
Nevertheless, Lukacs continued his assault, groping her and following her all the way to her workplace.
Upon arriving at her destination, the woman was visibly distressed, in tears, and noticeably shaken.
A friend of hers became concerned after she disclosed what had happened, leading to a police report being filed.
Forensic analysis of her jeans revealed DNA evidence linked directly to Lukacs, which established his involvement.
Lukacs was taken into custody approximately a week later.
During police questioning, he denied the sexual assault allegations, claiming that the woman 'quite liked him' and that nothing had happened that she did not want.
However, in court proceedings held in January, Lukacs ultimately admitted to charges of sexual assault.
On Friday, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
The victim’s ordeal had lasting consequences.
After the attack, she no longer felt safe traveling along the same route to work and decided to leave her job.
The court was informed of her emotional distress, including feelings of anxiety and difficulty sleeping, caused by the incident.
Lukacs’s legal consequences include a mandatory 10-year sex offender registration with the police.
Additionally, he is under an indefinite restraining order, which prohibits him from contacting the complainant in any capacity.
During the hearing, Lukacs’s barrister, John Batchelor, explained that his client had been out drinking with friends and that his partner had been away at the time.
He suggested that Lukacs may have been more intoxicated than he remembered, which could have affected his behavior.
The court, led by Recorder James Baird, emphasized that the woman clearly communicated her disapproval and disinterest to Lukacs, yet he persisted with his aggressive actions.
The judge highlighted the emotional toll suffered by the woman, who was left feeling anxious and unable to sleep after the assault.
His sentence reflects the severity of the crime and the impact it had on the victim’s sense of safety.
