PATRICK CLOGG SENTENCED IN DONCASTER FOR HORRIFIC SEX OFFENCES INVOLVING YOUNG GIRLS

A notorious sex offender, Patrick Clogg, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after a harrowing trial that revealed the extent of his heinous crimes against young girls.

The case, which took place at Sheffield Crown Court, brought to light the devastating impact Clogg's actions have had on his victims, some as young as eight years old.

Clogg, aged 50, who was previously residing in Rotherham but has since been living on Valley Drive, Branton, Doncaster, showed no remorse during the court proceedings held on June 26, 2024.

He remained silent as the victims' statements were read out, allowing them to describe the profound trauma inflicted upon them.

The court heard that Clogg was convicted of a total of 24 sex offences, which included multiple counts of rape, after a comprehensive trial.

One of the young girls who suffered at Clogg’s hands recounted how he had 'taken away' her childhood, leaving her with severe psychological scars.

She described feeling overwhelmed by fear and anxiety, unable to be in the company of others.

Other victims, who were also assaulted and raped by Clogg, shared how his abuse led them down destructive paths, including turning to alcohol and self-harm.

Some of these girls were so affected that they struggled to sit for crucial exams, highlighting the long-term consequences of his crimes.

In delivering her sentence, Judge Rachael Harrison condemned Clogg as a manipulative individual who exploited a combination of coercion and threats to carry out his sexual offences.

She emphasized that he had used intimidation tactics to silence his victims, warning them that they 'would not be believed' if they reported him.

The judge also revealed that Clogg had threatened to harm himself and even to 'chop' one girl’s finger off in an effort to conceal his misconduct.

Judge Harrison pointed out that Clogg has refused to accept responsibility for his actions, as evidenced by the contents of his pre-sentence report.

This stance persisted despite the jury’s unanimous guilty verdicts on all 24 charges, which included nine counts of rape, as well as offences involving assaulting a girl under 13 through touching, sexual assault, and inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity.

During mitigation, Clogg’s defense lawyer, James Baird, acknowledged the severity of the offences but emphasized that his client’s first conviction of this nature.

Baird stated that nothing he could say would diminish the suffering of the victims.

He also pointed out that Clogg had not caused any issues since being remanded into custody, suggesting that he had been compliant in prison.

Ultimately, Judge Harrison sentenced Clogg to 28 and a half years in prison, comprising 26 and a half years of custodial detention and an additional two years on licence.

She noted that she had considered imposing a life sentence but decided against it, as Clogg met the legal criteria for a dangerous offender and was assessed as posing a high risk to children of both genders if released into the community.

While the length of the sentence ensures that Clogg will serve at least two-thirds of his time behind bars, the judge explained that she did not find it necessary to impose an extended sentence.

Furthermore, she ordered Clogg to be subject to restraining orders and sexual harm prevention orders.

He will also be required to register as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions aimed at protecting the public from further harm.
