FINSBURY PARK RAPIST PAPIS CANTE JAILED FOR 10 YEARS
A man named Papis Cante, aged 36 and residing on Queen’s Drive, Finsbury Park, has been convicted of two separate sexual assaults on women. The first incident occurred on July 22 when he attacked a 22-year-old woman after she entered an alleyway following shared taxi arrangements.
The second attack took place on August 29 when he pulled a woman off a Victoria line train at Finsbury Park station and assaulted her in a nearby street.
Both victims did not know Cante prior to the attacks.
Evidence including CCTV footage and DNA analysis confirmed his involvement.
Cante pleaded guilty to two counts of rape at Wood Green Crown Court in October and was subsequently sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
A Crown Prosecution Service lawyer stated that Cante deliberately targeted lone women returning from nights out and that the DNA evidence led to his admission of guilt.
The court's decision aims to protect women from further harm and to provide some closure to the victims.
