OWEN MCSORLEY FROM SCUNTHORPE JAILED FOR CHILD INDECENCY IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Scunthorpe, Owen McSorley, aged 55, has been sentenced to a 20-month prison term after being found in possession of highly disturbing images involving children. The offences came to light following a police investigation into his computer equipment, which uncovered a collection of indecent photographs and extreme pornography.

McSorley's crimes span a period from January 2009 to June of the previous year. During this time, he not only possessed these illicit images but also took some himself, which depicted children of primary school age. The severity of the material was underscored by the fact that some of the photographs were personally taken by McSorley, highlighting a disturbing level of involvement and intent.

On June 23 of last year, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at McSorley's residence on Crosby Avenue in Scunthorpe. The police investigation revealed a total of 574 images involving young children, many of which were classified as indecent. Additionally, 31 images were identified as extreme pornography, further emphasizing the grotesque nature of the material found.

During the court proceedings at Grimsby Crown Court, Judge Peter Kelson QC did not hold back in condemning the images. He described them as “shocking” and “grotesque,” reflecting the serious concern and outrage over the case. The judge also imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order on McSorley, which aims to prevent any future offences of this nature.

Furthermore, McSorley is required to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions. The case has highlighted the importance of vigilance and swift action by authorities to combat the distribution and possession of child abuse images, and it serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by individuals involved in such heinous activities.
