PETERBOROUGH MAN JAILED FOR HISTORIC CHILD SEX ABUSE
Noel Brome-Hinds, an 81-year-old resident of Wingfield in Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after being convicted on 19 counts connected to historic sexual abuse involving three girls. During his trial at Peterborough Crown Court in November, it was revealed that one girl was abused over 50 times, with her earliest memory of the assault dating back to when she was a toddler. Brome-Hinds faced 13 charges of indecent assault on someone under 14, five charges of indecent assault on someone under 16, and one charge of raping a woman aged 16 or over. He denied all allegations, describing them as 'total lies' and 'nasty,' but the jury returned a guilty verdict. Police emphasized their commitment to investigating all reports of such crimes, regardless of when they took place or are reported. The victims explained the long-lasting effects the abuse had on them; one said she had felt unable to tell anyone earlier because she did not want to burden others, while another shared that she had dealt with struggles her entire life due to the issues. This case highlights the crucial role of reporting child sexual abuse, with authorities expressing hope that the conviction will help victims find closure and begin to heal.
