RESTRAINING ORDER AND SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR ARSON AND STALKING OFFENCES
A 62-year-old man from Ipswich has received a suspended prison sentence after confessing to charges of arson and stalking.Nigel Moyes, who previously resided on Primrose Way in Ipswich, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, 26 June.
He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for two years, after admitting to two counts of arson and one count of stalking that caused significant alarm or distress.
He was also ordered to stay away from certain individuals with a restraining order valid for 10 years and was placed under GPS monitoring for a period of six months.
PC Laura Henley highlighted the seriousness of stalking, stating: “Stalking is a serious and distressing crime which can escalate into dangerous and destructive behaviour, like arson.” Authorities urge anyone experiencing stalking to notify police immediately.
