OLDHAM MAN NEMANJA MAKUCA ESCAPES JAIL AFTER POSSESSING EXTREME PORNOGRAPHY AND CHILD INDECENCY IMAGES

Nemanja Makuca, a resident of Oldham, has narrowly avoided imprisonment after admitting to serious charges involving the possession of extreme pornographic material and indecent images of a child. The case came to light following a police investigation that was initiated on March 31, 2021, when authorities responded to intelligence suggesting that Makuca had downloaded illicit images onto his mobile device.

During the police raid at his residence, officers seized his phone and conducted a thorough examination. The investigation uncovered a disturbing collection of 34 extreme pornographic images, which depicted animals, specifically dogs, engaged in sexual acts. In addition to these, police found an indecent image of a child, further compounding the severity of the charges against him.

Initially, Makuca claimed that he had downloaded the images unintentionally, asserting that it was a mistake. However, a detailed review of his phone’s search history painted a different picture. The records revealed a pattern of deliberate searches indicating a sexual interest in children. Moreover, police uncovered messages exchanged by Makuca in which he shared links to the illicit images, expressed a desire for new content, and complained about the availability of old links, suggesting ongoing engagement with such material.

During the court proceedings, defense lawyer Mark Pritchard acknowledged that Makuca now accepted that the images were not downloaded accidentally. Pritchard also expressed hope that his client would seek appropriate help to address his behavior and underlying issues.

Judge Recorder Grundy emphasized the gravity of Makuca’s offending, highlighting the evidence provided by his search history and the messages exchanged. The court recognized the seriousness of the crimes committed, but ultimately decided on a sentence that reflected a degree of leniency. Makuca was sentenced to nine months in prison, suspended for two years, meaning he would not serve time unless he reoffended within that period.

In addition to the suspended sentence, Makuca was ordered to participate in a specialized sex offender treatment program, complete 250 hours of unpaid community service, and was placed on the sex offenders register for a decade. The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of illegal and exploitative material, especially involving minors and animals, within the Oldham community.
