September 2015 Pervert avoids prison for possession of child abuse images A man has been sentenced after being convicted of downloading child abuse images. Rezaur Rahman,  42, formerly of Botchergate, Carlisle, received a one year prison sentence suspended for two years. He was found guilty during a trial at Carlisle Crown Court of: Eight counts of making an indecent photograph of a child Three counts of possessing a prohibited image of a child Three counts of possessing extreme pornographic images Rahman, now of Main Road, Oldham, must be supervised for a year, abide by a curfew for six months and do 200 hours of unpaid work. He was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order and must pay £2,000 costs. August 2015 Engineer convicted of downloading child abuse images Rezaur Rahman, 42, went on trial at Carlisle Crown Court having denied a total of 14 charges. He pleaded not guilty to eight counts of making indecent photographs of children, three of possessing prohibited images of a child and three of possessing extreme pornographic images. All of the allegations relate to a period between late 2005 and early 2014. However, at the crown court today Rahman was unanimously found guilty of all 14 offences. Rahman, formerly of Botchergate but now of Main Road, Oldham, will be sentenced on September 15. He was granted bail but must sign the sex offenders’ register with immediate effect. The exact length of time that he must continue to sign that will be determined when he is sentenced.
