NAZMUL ISLAM CONFRONTED IN BIRMINGHAM FOR SEXUAL PREDATION IN BIDDULPH
In March 2018, a disturbing case of online predatory behavior unfolded involving Nazmul Islam, a 32-year-old man from Birmingham. The incident came to light after Islam was confronted by a group of paedophile hunters outside his workplace in Biddulph, following a series of alarming online exchanges.
Islam had engaged in conversations with what he believed was a 13-year-old girl, but in reality, he was communicating with members of the group known as No Thrills Exposure, who had set up a fake profile on an adult website.
The profile featured a picture that clearly depicted a minor under the age of 16.
When Islam initiated contact, he was informed that the girl was only 13 years old.
Despite being made aware of her age, Islam continued his communication, claiming he was 19 years older than her.
Over a span of two months, the conversations between Islam and the decoy became increasingly sexual in nature.
He expressed a desire to meet her in person and explicitly stated his wish for her to share a bed with him.
At one point, he sent a nude photograph of his private parts to the girl, further demonstrating his intent.
The paedophile hunters tracked Islam to his workplace located on Biddulph High Street.
On January 27, members of the group arrived at his place of employment to confront him.
The police were called to the scene, and Islam was subsequently arrested.
The authorities confirmed that he had attempted to engage in sexual communication with a minor and had tried to incite her to participate in sexual activity.
Islam, who resides on Thetford Road in Birmingham, pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity.
During the court proceedings at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, he was sentenced to eight months in prison, but this sentence was suspended for two years.
As part of his sentencing, Islam was ordered to complete a 25-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
Furthermore, he was placed under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for five years and was registered on the sex offenders’ register for a period of ten years.
Judge David Fletcher addressed Islam directly, emphasizing the severity of his actions: “You knew the person was aged 13.
Some of the conversations were overtly sexual.
Sending a photo of private parts cemented the sexual nature of the conversation.
There was a real inclination to meet the girl.” The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and community groups to combat online child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from predatory behavior.
