A man identified as Nazakat Hussain has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl at a bus stop in Birmingham.Hussain, who does not have a fixed address, denied the allegations during the trial, but the court found him guilty of sexual assault by touching.
As a result, he was sentenced to six months in prison on Tuesday, November 14.
The incident took place in August of this year, when the 15-year-old girl was waiting at a bus stop in Bordesley Green, accompanied by her younger sister.
While waiting for her bus, Hussain approached her and committed the assault.
The young girl immediately responded by alerting the bus driver, who promptly contacted the police.

Mark Heffernan, the Chief Operating and Safety Officer for National Express, issued a statement emphasizing the rarity of such incidents.
He said, “Hundreds of thousands of journeys are made safely on our buses every single day and incidents of sexual assault are rare, however we will not tolerate anybody who does not respect the right that everybody has to travel safely, without fear of assault or intimidation.” He also praised the quick actions of the bus driver and the police, noting that the arrest and subsequent sentencing send a strong message that offenders will be prosecuted.
Inspector Lee Davies from the Safer Travel Police team also commented on the case, commending the bravery of the teenage girl for coming forward.
He stated, “Her quick actions ensured that Hussain was quickly arrested.
Everyone should be able to use public transport across the West Midlands safely and we take offences of this kind very seriously.” Inspector Davies further noted that Hussain showed no remorse during the proceedings.
The judge sentenced him to six months in prison and ordered that he notify police of his residence for the next seven years following his release.
Additionally, Hussain was placed under a sexual harm prevention order for the same period, which restricts any unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16.
