SEX OFFENDER CAUGHT AFTER ADULT POSES AS 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL ONLINE
A dangerous sex offender named Naveed Sultan has been sentenced to prison after engaging in a series of disturbing and illegal activities involving minors in Nottingham and Sutton-in-Ashfield.The case came to light when Sultan, 38 years old and residing on Sophie Road in Nottingham, was found to have sent explicit messages and attempted to arrange a meeting with an individual he believed to be a 14-year-old girl.
In reality, the person he was communicating with was an adult posing as a teenager.
Sultan had arranged to meet her at Sutton Lawn Park in Sutton-in-Ashfield, a location he chose after exchanging numerous sexually explicit messages.
On the day of the planned meeting, Sultan arrived at Sutton Lawn Park, but the person he expected to meet did not approach him.
Instead, she observed him from a distance, having never intended to meet him in person.
The incident prompted an immediate investigation by Nottinghamshire Police, who were alerted after the information was relayed to them through Sultan’s employer.
Further inquiries revealed that Sultan had also been communicating with two other teenage girls.
The police uncovered evidence that he had engaged in sexually explicit conversations with these minors and had even attempted to locate their residences.
One of the girls, aged 13, received threatening messages from Sultan, including threats of rape, and was encouraged to meet him.
The police investigation was comprehensive, involving the analysis of voice messages, videos, and screenshots sent by Sultan.
These materials confirmed his inappropriate and illegal communications.
As a result, detectives charged Sultan with multiple offences, including engaging in sexual communication with a child and attempting to meet a child following grooming activities.
Sultan eventually pleaded guilty to two counts of engaging in sexual communication with a minor and one count of attempting to meet a child for sexual purposes.
His case was heard at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, 16 November.
The court sentenced him to a total of eight years in prison, comprising five years of actual incarceration and an additional three years on license, meaning he will be under supervision after his release.
In addition to his prison sentence, Sultan was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, which will restrict his online activities and prevent him from accessing certain internet services once he is released.
Furthermore, he was placed on the sex offenders’ register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
This case highlights the serious nature of online grooming and the importance of vigilant law enforcement efforts to protect minors from exploitation and harm.
The authorities continue to emphasize the need for awareness and caution among parents, guardians, and young people regarding online interactions with strangers.
