SEX OFFENDER ON RUN IN TUNISIA AFTER FLEEING COUNTRY
A convicted sex offender who was found guilty of abusing a young girl from Nottingham is currently on the run, having escaped to Tunisia.
Nottingham Crown Court was told that Miloud Arouri traveled to his homeland in North Africa the day after a jury convicted him of his crimes.
The trial revealed that he exploited the girl’s vulnerabilities, engaged in sexual contact with her, and forced her to watch pornography to satisfy his own desires.
He was sentenced in absentia to nine years and seven months in prison, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Judge Steven Coupland noted that Arouri did not attend his sentencing following his conviction, and authorities are working to extradite him back to the UK.
The case detailed how he manipulated the victim, who was suffering from an eating disorder and engaging in self-harm, and how he showed no remorse, fleeing the country immediately after the trial.
Earlier this year, the court found Arouri guilty of charges including sexual activity with a minor and encouraging a child to take part in sexual acts.
He has no prior convictions.
The judge ordered that he be placed on the sex offender register for life.
