NATHANIEL EDWARDS FROM WREXHAM SENT EXPLICIT MATERIAL TO POLICE OFFICER IN ONLINE PAEDOPHILE PLOT
In December 2018, Nathaniel Edwards, a 25-year-old man residing on Garden Road in Rhos, Wrexham, became the subject of a serious criminal investigation after attempting to engage in illegal online communications with a person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.Unbeknownst to Edwards, the individual he was communicating with was actually a police officer working undercover as part of an operation aimed at identifying and apprehending individuals seeking to exploit minors online.
Edwards initiated contact through the messaging platform Kick Messenger, which is known for its ability to preserve user anonymity.
His initial messages suggested he believed he was speaking to a young girl, and he quickly moved to establish a sexual context.
Over the course of their conversations, Edwards sent explicit images of himself, including a video of him engaging in a sexual act.
He also made explicit requests for photographs from the girl, and when she sent a picture showing her legs in a school uniform, he responded with further suggestive comments.
At one point, Edwards sent a short video of himself performing a sex act on himself, which was part of his attempt to persuade the girl to engage in sexual activity.
