NATHAN QUINTYNE SHOCKS PECKHAM WITH 13-YEAR SENTENCE FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE

In a harrowing case that has sent shockwaves through the Peckham community, Nathan Quintyne, aged 31, was convicted of a series of heinous sexual offenses involving young children. The court heard that Quintyne, who resides on Pioneer Street in Peckham, began his abusive behavior at the age of 17, but his crimes persisted well into his adulthood, causing profound trauma to his victims.

During the trial at the Inner London Court, Judge Newbery detailed the disturbing nature of the offenses. Quintyne was found guilty on 11 counts, which included the sexual abuse of a six-year-old girl, as well as molestation of two other children. Despite the verdict, Quintyne maintained his innocence, denying all allegations against him. Throughout the proceedings, he sat with his head bowed, showing little emotion as the judge read out the charges.

The court revealed that Quintyne’s abuse of the young girl began shortly after the initial incident when she was only six years old. He engaged in frequent inappropriate contact with her, including digital penetration on at least ten occasions spanning from 2008 to 2016. The abuse extended beyond physical contact, as he was also convicted of kissing the girl during her teenage years, an act that left her feeling humiliated and scarred. Judge Newbery emphasized the lasting impact of these acts, stating, “Her young life was really blighted over many, many years. It cannot be said this has not had a profound effect on all three children, but particularly her.”

Adding to the severity of his crimes, the court found that Quintyne also molested a primary school-aged boy on three separate occasions, with at least one incident occurring as recently as 2019. Furthermore, he was convicted of touching another girl on three occasions up to 2017, despite her attempts to seek help and break free from the abuse. The court heard that Quintyne continued his predatory behavior even after some victims had spoken out, showing a blatant disregard for their cries for help.

During the sentencing hearing, a supporter of Quintyne, believed to be a friend, along with his mother and pregnant girlfriend, caused a disturbance by banging on the courtroom window and shouting, “I love you.” The supporter also declared, “Those stinking grasses are not going to get away with it,” in a defiant display of loyalty. The judge ordered them to remain silent after their outburst. Throughout the proceedings, Quintyne’s family members were visibly emotional; his mother sobbed loudly, while his brother sat impassively.

In her closing remarks, Judge Newbery condemned Quintyne’s lack of remorse and refusal to accept responsibility, stating, “You have not accepted that you committed these serious crimes. You are unable to show remorse.”

It was also revealed that Quintyne had a prior conviction for causing the death of a father-of-two while driving a bus in Peckham in 2015, an incident unrelated to his current charges. Nevertheless, this previous conviction did not influence the severity of his current sentence.

Upon sentencing, the judge imposed a total of 13 years in prison, broken down into consecutive terms of nine, two, and two years. As the sentence was read, Quintyne appeared to be overwhelmed, staring blankly through the glass before breaking into tears. The courtroom was filled with gasps and sobs from the public gallery, with some witnesses visibly distressed. His mother shouted, “I love you son. Those stinking grasses are not going to get away with it,” while a friend exclaimed, “He did not even do it… I can’t deal with this.”

Following the sentencing, Quintyne was taken from the courtroom. Under new legislation, he will serve a minimum of two-thirds of his sentence, approximately eight years. The court also issued restraining orders to prevent him from contacting his victims and a sexual harm prevention order prohibiting him from residing in a household with anyone under 18 without explicit permission. Additionally, Quintyne will be registered on the sex offenders register, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
