MYLES WINFARRAH FROM NORTHAMPTON SENT BACK TO PRISON FOR SHPO BREACHES
Myles James Winfarrah, a 26-year-old man previously residing in Northampton, has been re-incarcerated after violating the terms of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).Winfarrah’s criminal history includes a conviction from 2019 for sexual assault against a woman, which led to his placement on the Sex Offenders’ Register. As part of his release conditions, he was required to adhere to strict regulations designed to monitor and control his interactions and movements, aiming to prevent any further harm.
However, in March 2024, Winfarrah was found to have breached these conditions. Specifically, he engaged in sexual activity with an individual without informing the police of her personal details, including her name, address, and telephone number, within the mandated seven-day period. This omission was a clear violation of his reporting obligations.
Further breaches were identified when it was discovered that Winfarrah had developed a relationship with the same woman without notifying the authorities of her details. Additionally, he failed to report an address where he had stayed for more than 12 hours, which was also a requirement, especially since a child resided at that location. These actions indicated a disregard for the restrictions imposed upon him.
His violations did not end there. In September, Winfarrah again failed to comply with the rules by not registering at a police station within three days of his release from prison. This failure to update his registration status was another serious breach of his legal obligations.
Following his arrest, Winfarrah was charged with two counts of breaching his SHPO and two counts of failing to meet his notification requirements. He pleaded guilty to these charges at Northampton Crown Court in November. The court proceedings culminated in a sentencing hearing in December, where he was sentenced to a prison term of one year and two months.
His re-sentencing underscores the importance of strict adherence to the conditions set forth in the SHPO, which are designed to protect the community and prevent further offenses by individuals with a history of sexual crimes.
