MOHAMMED MALIK FROM BRADFORD SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON VULNERABLE TEENAGER
In June 2017, a disturbing case unfolded involving Mohammed Malik, a resident of Bradford, who was convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.The incident took place after Malik lured the young teenager to a secluded area, where he then committed a sexual offence in the back of his vehicle.
The court proceedings revealed a series of troubling details about the assault and Malik's subsequent arrest and sentencing.
Mohammed Malik, aged 23 at the time, was found guilty of charges including oral rape and sexual assault.
The case was brought before Judge Neil Davey QC at Bradford Crown Court, where Malik appeared in custody to face the charges.
The prosecution, led by Stephen Wood, outlined that Malik, who had prior convictions for violence, had engaged in a sexual assault by repeatedly placing the girl’s hand on his genitals during the incident.
The court heard that Malik had arranged to meet the girl around midnight.
After picking her up, he drove her to a car park located off Cemetery Road.
Malik then entered the back seat of his vehicle, where he began kissing the girl.
According to the evidence presented, Malik committed oral rape during this encounter before quickly returning to the driver’s seat and driving the girl home.
The case came to light after the girl confided in a teacher about the assault.
Following her disclosure, Malik was arrested in January.
During police interviews, Malik initially denied any knowledge of the girl or any sexual activity, claiming no involvement.
However, DNA evidence linked him to semen found on the girl’s jacket, which led to his guilty plea.
Malik’s expressions of remorse during the trial were described by the judge as “unconvincing,” and it was noted that his guilty plea was only made after the DNA match was established.
The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was subjected to a lengthy period of uncertainty, having to undergo identification procedures and wondering whether she would be required to testify at Malik’s trial.
The judge acknowledged her vulnerability, emphasizing that she was defenseless once Malik had trapped her in his vehicle.
Although the judge clarified that there was insufficient evidence to classify the case as grooming, he highlighted her particular vulnerability due to her personal circumstances and Malik’s physical strength.
In sentencing, Judge Davey imposed a total of eight years in prison—seven years for the oral rape and an additional 12 months for the sexual assault.
Furthermore, Malik was ordered to be subject to an indefinite restraining order, which prohibits him from contacting the victim again.
He is also required to register as a sex offender with the police for life and is subject to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order, which bans him from having unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16.
The court’s decision reflects the seriousness of the offences and the need to protect vulnerable minors from further harm.
