LEEDS MAN JAILED FOR SEX ATTACK ON TEENAGER AT HOUSE PARTY
A man named Mitchel Ward, aged 21, was sentenced to ten years in prison after pleading guilty to raping a young woman at a house party in Leeds in November 2014.The court heard that Ward had gone to the party with his girlfriend and consumed large amounts of alcohol, including doing 'eyeball shots' with vodka.
During the event, the teenage victim, who was drunk and found in her bed at the party, decided to sleep.
Later in the evening, Ward entered the bedroom and laid beside her, requesting sex which she refused.
The following morning around 7:30 am, she awoke to find Ward having sex with her.
The victim disclosed the assault to her parents, leading to Ward's arrest.
He initially denied the offence, describing the girl as 'strange' and expressing dislike for her, but later pleaded guilty after forensic evidence linked him to the crime.
Ward has a prior conviction related to a sexual offence involving a 13-year-old girl in 2009.
The court noted that Ward continued to pose a serious danger to women and sentenced him to serve five years in custody, followed by a five-year license period.
The judge remarked that Ward had 'ruined her life in many ways' and pointed out that he blamed the victim in both incidents.
Ward’s conduct has been classified under the 'Rapists' category.
