MAN, 81, JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING TEENAGERS
An elderly man convicted of sexually abusing adolescent girls has been sentenced to prison.
Miklos Szabo, who is 81 years old, was found guilty after a six-day trial of offering alcohol, cigarettes, and money to 14-year-olds in exchange for sexual acts.
He received a sentence of three-and-a-half years at Bolton Crown Court.
Due to legal restrictions, his address cannot be disclosed.
Szabo has previously attempted suicide twice.
The incidents took place during 2008 and 2009.
Authorities had issued a warning to him in 2006 for having young girls in his flat, and in 2008, a mother of one victim advised him to cease contact with her daughter.
Szabo remained on bail throughout the case.
The judge noted Szabo’s physical frailty and unsteadiness, considering that prison could be life-threatening, but also took into account his relative health and strength.
The sentence underscores the gravity of the crimes committed against vulnerable minors.
