BLACKBURN MAN GETS SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR CYCLING PERVERT'S ASSAULT ON YOUNG GIRLS
The mother of a victim of a cycling pervert has expressed her disgust at the sentence his received for molesting three young girls in Blackburn town centre. The court was informed that Michal Svatek, 34, a Czech national, had groped the young girls as he cycled past them.
He was only apprehended when the father of one of the victims detained him until police arrived.
Svatek pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault on females.
Magistrates sentenced him to a 36-week suspended prison term along with a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years and was issued a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
The court heard that Svatek found his actions 'funny' and denied having a deviant sexual interest in teenage girls.
Prosecutors stated that two of the girls were aged 14 and one was 16, all of whom had their bottoms grabbed or slapped by Svatek.
District Judge Alexandra Preston stated, 'You did so in a way that was clearly sexually motivated and also in a way which was so public it was bound to cause them humiliation.
Your behaviour would have caused them significant distress.' The judge also commented that Svatek was in denial about being a sexual predator, and there remained some uncertainty about his immigration status, as he had been living in the UK for around 10 years.
The mother of one of the victims described the punishment as 'disgusting' and questioned why he had not been deported back to Czechia.
She added that her daughter now has to look over her shoulder while shopping in their town in broad daylight.
