MICHAEL PUGH FROM TELFORD ADMITS TO CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN SHREWSBURY COURT
In a serious case heard at Shrewsbury Crown Court, Michael Pugh, a 40-year-old resident of Hayes Road, Arleston, Telford, has confessed to engaging in illegal and disturbing online communications with minors. The court was informed that during December 2019, Pugh was involved in conversations with two individuals he believed to be young girls, one claiming to be 12 years old and the other 13.
These interactions included attempts to initiate sexual dialogue, which are considered grave offenses under the law.
Furthermore, Pugh took the disturbing step of sending one of these accounts an explicit image of himself performing a sexual act.
This act of sharing such material with minors is a serious criminal offense, reflecting a clear intent to exploit and harm vulnerable children.
Pugh faced three charges in total, including two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor and one count of attempting to cause a child under the age of 13 to view an explicit image.
During the court proceedings, Pugh pleaded guilty to all three charges, acknowledging the severity of his actions.
The case was subsequently adjourned to allow for the preparation of a pre-sentence report, which will guide the sentencing process.
Pugh is scheduled to be sentenced on January 27 at Shrewsbury Crown Court.
As part of his legal obligations following his guilty plea, Pugh was ordered to attend his nearest police station to sign onto the Sex Offenders’ Register, a measure designed to monitor and prevent further offenses.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about online exploitation and the importance of rigorous legal action to protect children from predators.
