MICHAEL MCLENNAN SENTENCED IN AYRSHIRE FOR NON-CONSENSUAL VIDEO SCANDAL

Michael McLennan admitted to sending a video of a woman in an intimate act without her consent, causing her distress. The incident occurred at an unknown location on April 21 of last year. McLennan, formerly residing in Galashiels and now living on Mauchline Road in Auchinleck, also pleaded guilty to breaching a Non-Harassment Order by attempting to contact the woman a week before sending the video to another person.

Depute fiscal India McLean told the court that the woman and McLennan had been in a relationship for ten years, which she ended in August 2021. She explained that in the early hours of April 15, 2023, the woman received a message from McLennan containing kisses and emojis. She did not respond and subsequently blocked his number.

Ms McLean stated, “A week later the woman received a message from a friend to say McLennan had sent a video of her having sexual intercourse with Mr McLennan. It showed her and Mr McLennan engaged in sexual activity for several minutes. She confirmed it was her and that it had been shared with others. She then contacted the police.”

Sentencing was postponed for the preparation of a Criminal Justice Social Work Report and a Restriction of Liberty Order assessment, scheduled for June 10.

In an update, Sheriff Peter Paterson imposed a community payback order including supervision and a conduct requirement that forbade McLennan from distributing any images of the woman. He was also ordered to attend the Caledonian Men’s Programme for two years and was placed under a night-time home curfew from 7pm to 7am for the next ten months.
