March 2004 Indecent photos taken A PROFESSIONAL photographer from Usk who took indecent pictures of two teenage girls was this week ordered to register as a sex offender. Michael Hunt admitted two counts of making the pictures and two indecent assaults at Newport Crown Court. Hunt, aged 47, of Conifer Crescent, Usk, asked the girls, who were aged 14 and 15 at the time, to pose for him semi-naked and then indecently touched them while taking the photos, the court heard. He then stored the images in his computer which was later seized by police. The offences took place last summer and the girls reported the incident to the police. DC Gareth Lavington, who investigated the case, said: “We received a report from the girls and carried out an operation in which we seized Michael Hunt’s computer equipment. “We found photos which were classed as category one indecent, which are minor indecent pictures.” The court heard from David Webster, prosecuting, that the indecent assaults were committed while the girls were posing for the photographs. With the case poised for a trial yesterday and the teenage schoolgirls at court ready to give evidence, Hunt decided to change his plea. He pleaded guilty to indecent assault on each of the girls between January and August last year and two counts of making indecent photographs of the girls between the same dates. The case was adjourned for pre-sentence reports and Judge David Morris ordered Hunt to be registered with the police as a sex offender. He was released on bail but Judge Morris warned he could still face prison. He will appear for sentencing on March 29.
