MAZHAR HUSSAIN FROM BIRMINGHAM JAILED FOR ABUSING 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN STECHFORD
In March 2021, a disturbing case of child sexual abuse emerged involving Mazhar Hussain, a former teacher from Birmingham, who was convicted of grooming and abusing a 14-year-old girl in the Stechford area.Hussain, who once worked as an educator, exploited his position of trust to manipulate the young girl, showering her with expensive gifts such as a mobile phone and jewelry, in an attempt to establish a false sense of intimacy and affection.
The victim, only 14 years old at the time, was led to believe that she had entered into a marriage with Hussain following what she thought was a genuine wedding ceremony conducted over the phone.
Hussain’s inappropriate behavior extended beyond mere gift-giving; he engaged in a series of over 2,200 text messages with the girl within just over a month.
Many of these messages contained explicit content, revealing the nature of their relationship and Hussain’s intentions.
Investigations confirmed that Hussain had met with the girl in person, and sexual activity had taken place during these encounters.
The disturbing exchanges between Hussain and the girl often referred to each other as husband and wife, further blurring the lines of appropriate conduct and highlighting the manipulative tactics used by Hussain to groom his young victim.
The abuse only came to light in 2018 when the girl, demonstrating remarkable bravery, contacted the police after confiding in a family friend about Hussain’s grooming behavior.
Her courage in reporting the matter led to Hussain’s swift arrest on the same day.
During legal proceedings, Hussain, who resides on Old Farm Road in Stechford, admitted to four counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16.
On Monday, March 22, Birmingham Crown Court sentenced Hussain to three years and three months in prison for his crimes.
In addition to his incarceration, Hussain was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and was issued a sexual harm prevention order, which imposes strict restrictions on his conduct to prevent further offenses.
This case underscores the importance of vigilance and the bravery of victims in confronting abuse, especially when it involves trusted individuals in positions of authority.
