MATT MORRIS FROM TELFORD ESCAPES JAIL AFTER CHILD ABUSE IMAGE SCANDAL IN TELFORD AND WELLINGTON
In a case that has shocked the community of Telford and the surrounding Wellington area, Matthew Morris, a 33-year-old resident of Marton Drive, Wellington, was brought before Shrewsbury Crown Court to face serious charges related to the possession and creation of indecent images involving children.Between February and September of the previous year, Morris was found to have downloaded nearly 800 images depicting children in explicit and abusive contexts.
The court proceedings revealed that Morris had pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of making indecent photographs of children, one count of creating indecent pseudo-photos, and an additional charge of possessing extreme pornographic images.
The judge presiding over the case, Anthony Lowe, delivered a sentence that, while not involving immediate imprisonment, carried significant conditions.
Morris was sentenced to eight months in custody, but this sentence was suspended for two years, meaning he would not serve time unless he committed another offence within that period.
In addition to the suspended sentence, Morris was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his access to certain online content and prevent further harm.
He was also required to participate in a rehabilitation activity program lasting 20 days, designed to address underlying issues related to his offending behavior.
Furthermore, Morris was ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid community work, emphasizing the court’s focus on restorative justice.
Financial penalties included a costs payment of £550 and a victim surcharge of £140, which are intended to support victims and fund related services.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and judicial authorities in Telford and Wellington to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable individuals from online abuse.
Morris’s case serves as a stark reminder of the serious consequences associated with the possession and creation of illegal images involving minors.
