MARTYN BUTCHER FROM BLACKPOOL CAUGHT WITH CHILD INDECENT IMAGES
A court has been informed of the disturbing case involving Martyn Butcher, a 29-year-old aircraft engineer residing in Marton, Blackpool.The proceedings revealed that Butcher began his disturbing online activity at the tender age of 13, when he first started viewing indecent images of children.
Over the years, from 1999 through 2015, he accumulated a staggering collection of tens of thousands of such images, a significant portion of which—more than 300—were classified as the most severe category of illegal content.
Authorities uncovered further evidence during a raid on his residence on Abbotsford Road.
Among the items seized were additional photographs taken in public places, as well as images of friends’ children captured without their knowledge or consent.
This discovery highlighted the extent of his illegal activities, which included not only viewing but also downloading and storing these illicit images.
The prosecution outlined that Butcher was responsible for the illegal downloading of numerous images, most of which depicted young boys approximately 11 or 12 years old.
The evidence painted a disturbing picture of his ongoing engagement with such material over many years.
In court, the judge considered the gravity of his actions, which led to a sentence that included a community order and a five-year restriction on internet use, aimed at preventing further offenses.
Additionally, Butcher was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
The case underscores the serious nature of possessing and distributing child exploitation images and the legal consequences faced by those involved in such crimes.
