MARTIN TAYLOR, HUCKNALL PAEDOPHILE TEACHER, JAILED FOR SEVEN YEARS IN NOTTINGHAM

In May 2004, Martin Taylor, a 39-year-old teacher from Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, was sentenced to seven years in prison after being found in possession of nearly 100,000 images of child pornography. Taylor, described by the court as a "genuinely evil" paedophile who had been leading a double life, was convicted following the discovery of his illicit material.

His collection of indecent images was uncovered when police responded to a fire at his home on Florence Street. During the investigation, officers found incriminating photographs in his bedroom. Taylor, who taught at Butlers Hill Infant School in Hucknall, pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to child pornography.

Prosecutor Tracey Kirwin informed the court that during a search of Taylor’s property, two computers were seized and examined, revealing a total of 95,227 images. Among these were 16 images classified as the most serious category of child pornography.

Ian Way, acting as Taylor’s defense solicitor, acknowledged his client’s disgrace and shame, stating, “He is here in disgrace and shame. He was a man leading a double life.”

Judge Dudley Bennett sentenced Taylor, stating, “You are an example, in my view, of a genuinely evil paedophile. This case is about as bad as it gets. In your role as a primary school teacher, parents trusted you.”

The judge imposed a seven-year prison term and a lifelong ban on working with children.
