MARK TURNER SENTENCED TO 23 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN BIRMINGHAM AND WORCESTER
A 40-year-old man, Mark Turner from Corbett Road, Hollywood, Birmingham, has been sentenced to a substantial prison term of 21 years, complemented by an additional two years on license, following his conviction on multiple serious sexual offences. The ruling was handed down at Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday, 31 January.
Turner faced several grave charges, which included gross indecency with a girl under the age of 16, indecent assault of a female under 14, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity through penetration, and sexual assault of a child.
These offences were linked to three different victims, with the investigation initially focusing on a report made to detectives in 2018.
However, further inquiries uncovered additional victims and abuse that occurred over a span of years.
Detective Constable Fiona Millership expressed her sentiments regarding the verdict, stating, "The verdict and the sentence handed down to Turner will I hope offer some solace and comfort to those he hurt." She further emphasized the severity of Turner’s actions, describing him as a predator of children.
The investigation revealed that between 2001 and 2004, Turner had abused and sexually assaulted more victims than initially known.
The heavy sentence of 23 years in prison is intended not only to penalize Turner but also to serve as a stern warning to others who might consider abusing children.
Detective Millership added a message of reassurance to the public, especially to victims and survivors: "My hope is that it reassures other victims and survivors that they can trust us to find them justice.
