MARK LOANE, FORMER JERSEY BUSINESSMAN, SENTENCED TO 8 YEARS IN PRISON IN JERSEY
In October 2017, Mark Loane, a 48-year-old former businessman from Jersey, was sentenced to eight years in prison after being found guilty of six counts of indecent assault.
Loane, who is known for establishing the company C5 Alliance, did not react as the verdict was announced at Jersey’s Royal Court.
The jury took approximately three hours to unanimously convict him of all charges, which involved abuse spanning several years until the victim was about 16 years old.
During the trial in July 2017, the young victim provided an emotional testimony, describing fear and intimidation, and portrayed the ongoing nature of the abuse.
A secret recording of the victim confronting Loane was played in court.
Loane has been remanded in custody, ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years, and instructed to pay £50,000 in compensation to the victim.
