RAPIST WHOSE CRIMES SPANNED FOR MORE THAN TWO DECADES SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS BY JERSEY ROYAL COURT
A Jersey man has been sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment after being found guilty of multiple sexual crimes in the islands.Jose Rodrigues Camacho, 51, was convicted on six counts of rape along with one count of indecent assault following a seven-day trial held in November 2024.
The woman involved reported her abuse to authorities in April 2023, sharing that her ordeal extended over more than twenty years.
Charges against him were filed in February 2024, and he made an appearance in the Magistrate’s Court the same month, where he was released on bail.
In commenting on the case, Detective Constable Carla Garnier said: "The States of Jersey Police would like to commend the victim and witnesses in this case, for both coming forward and having the courage to stand up in court and give their evidence.
"We work with our partner agencies to support the victims of these crimes and seek to bring perpetrators to justice."
