Mark Leith

Troon Sexual Abuser

June 2011 Paedophile Helped At Troon Church A PAEDOPHILE helped set up a church before mass – alongside altar boys and girls. Parishioners are outraged that creepy Mark Leith was able to get so close to children. And some say the clergy knew that Leith faced sickening sex charges. But the church deny he had unsupervised access to children at Our Lady of Assumption and St Meddan in Troon. Leith, 27, faces jail after he left a message on an adult sex line saying he was wearing his daughter’s panties and that he wanted to have sex with her. he added, he loved having sex with children. The twisted pervert also had hundreds of pornographic images of kids on his computer. While the case was waiting to call at Ayr Sheriff Court, Leith continued to help his ill grandmother with her duties in the Catholic church. But throughout his apparent goodwill, the general congregation was blissfully unaware of Leith’s vile secret. One parishioner said: “It’s extremely worrying that the church allowed this man to assist in this position. “The first most of us heard about what he did was when we read it in the paper. “As far as I’ve been led to believe the church was aware when these awful charges were first alleged. “Nothing was done and he was allowed to continue helping his gran. “I have no issue with him being allowed to worship at the church, but to allow him to work closely with children is outrageous.” A spokesperson for the Catholic church claimed that Leith had no more access to children that any other member of the congregation. But he admitted that Leith has helped organise the altar ahead of church services. That would undoubtedly involve going into the sacristy, where young altar servers get ready for mass. The spokesperson said: “He was not in a position where he had unsupervised access to children and has had no formal role within the parish. “He has, on occasion, lent a hand over the last year or two. If he was in the sacristy at the same time as the altar servers, the priest would also be there. “These charges were not public knowledge, nobody in the church knew about them.” Leith admitted using his gran’s phone to leave the disgusting message on an adult sex line when he appeared in court last month. In the call to Speakeasy, Leith said he was home alone, wearing girls underwear and loved having sex with children. Police were swiftly called and when they traced Leith to his Central Avenue home in Troon they took away his laptop and found more than 300 indecent images of children. He will be back in court for sentencing later this month and has been placed on the sex offenders register. May 2011 PERVERT LEFT SICK VOICEMAIL ON CHAT LINE A PERVERT left a disgusting message on an adult sex line saying he loved to have sex with children. And sick Mark Leith even used his grandmother’s mobile to make the call. The twisted 27-year-old was on bail at the time as he had previously admitted having over 300 pornographic pictures of children on his computer. Leith’s sick secret was uncovered back in January 2010 when police received intelligence that he had the vile images. Leith allowed cops to take his laptop away when they came to his Troon home. And they later discovered 307 disgusting pictures of children on the machine. Paedophile Leith then called sex chatline, Speakeasy, in February this year. His vile voicemail message said that he was home alone, wearing girl’s underwear and loved having sex with children. The chatline’s operator, 4D Interactive telecommunications Ltd, monitors all the messages and immediately noted the number and contacted police. When they realised the phone was registered to Leith’s gran, suspicion immediately fell upon him. They went again to the house that he shares with his gran and seized the mobile phone and a number of phone bills. During his police interview Leith was asked if he knew why they were talking to him. He answered: “Probably because I said something unacceptable or whatever.” He then went on to say that anything he had said on the chatline “wasn’t real” and was “pure fantasy”. Leith, of Central Avenue, Troon, pleaded guilty to leaving a verbal message that was sexual and indecent and possessing indecent photos of children at Ayr Sheriff Court last week. Sentence was deferred for background reports and Leith was released on bail with the condition that he cannot use the internet. He was placed on the sex offenders’ register.
