MARK DUTHIE FROM LEVEN ADMITS TO DOWNLOADING CHILD INDECENT IMAGES AND EXTREME PORNOGRAPHY
In January 2017, a man from Leven faced the court to answer charges related to the possession and download of indecent images of children as well as extreme pornography. The individual, identified as Mark Duthie, acknowledged his involvement in these offences, which spanned over a period of more than two years. The material he possessed included not only images of children but also explicit content depicting adults engaged in bestiality, a form of extreme pornography that is both illegal and highly disturbing.According to court records, Duthie, aged 30 at the time, admitted that between December 9, 2013, and February 17 of the following year, he was in possession of indecent photographs of minors at his residence in Leven. Furthermore, he confessed that from August 17, 2015, until February 17 of the subsequent year, he also held explicit and realistic images of adults involved in sexual acts with animals. These admissions highlight the prolonged period during which Duthie engaged in the possession of such illegal material.
Details of the investigation reveal that a search warrant was obtained and executed on February 17. Claire Bremner, representing the prosecution, explained to Dunfermline Sheriff Court that the search took place at Duthie’s home, where officers found him present along with his mother. During the search, law enforcement officials recovered a mobile phone and a laptop, both of which contained indecent images of children. Bremner emphasized that the devices were thoroughly examined and confirmed to contain illegal content.
Following the search, Duthie was interviewed by authorities. During the interview, he made a full confession, revealing that he had actively searched for these images for sexual gratification. He also admitted to communicating with like-minded individuals through a messaging application, indicating a broader online network involved in sharing such material.
In light of these findings, Sheriff Craig McSherry ordered that reports be prepared for sentencing, which is scheduled for March 1. As part of the legal consequences, Duthie was placed on the sexual offenders’ register, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing monitoring required for individuals convicted of such offences.
