MARK AUBURN FROM NORTHAMPTON SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND ANIMAL PORNOGRAPHY
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Northampton community, Mark Auburn, a 38-year-old resident of Ennerdale Road, was brought before Northampton Crown Court on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, to face serious charges related to the possession and creation of indecent images of children and extreme pornography involving animals.The court proceedings revealed that Auburn had been under investigation since his arrest on January 21, 2020, when authorities executed a search at his home.
During this search, a significant collection of illicit material was uncovered across multiple IT devices, including computers and storage media.
The evidence presented showed that Auburn had amassed over 6,000 child abuse images, a number that underscores the severity of his offenses.
Specifically, the images were categorized into different levels of severity: 975 images classified as Category A, indicating the most severe and explicit content involving children; 875 images classified as Category B; and 3,124 images falling under Category C, which are considered less severe but still highly inappropriate.
In addition to these, authorities found 1,439 extreme images depicting sexual acts with animals, both dead and alive, which added a further disturbing dimension to the case.
Prosecutor Ben Gow detailed that the investigation revealed these images had been collected over a span of nearly a decade, dating back to June 2010.
This long-term accumulation highlights a sustained pattern of offending behavior.
During the court hearing, Her Honour Judge Adrienne Lucking addressed Auburn directly, condemning his actions.
She stated, “You were clearly actively seeking that material, which depicts very young children in a really awful state of distress.
Without abusing these children, these images would not have been created.” Her words reflected the gravity of the crimes and the harm inflicted upon the victims depicted in the images.
As the sentencing was delivered, Auburn was visibly emotional, weeping in the courtroom.
The judge sentenced him to 15 months in prison, but this sentence was suspended for two years, meaning Auburn will not serve time unless he commits further offenses within that period.
Additionally, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) was imposed for ten years, restricting his activities and access to certain online content.
Furthermore, Auburn was ordered to register as a sex offender for a decade, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct related to sexual offenses.
