In a case that has sent shockwaves through the local community, Mark Allcock, a 43-year-old resident of Leek, has been convicted of creating and sharing indecent images of children. The incident, which came to light in June 2011, involved the possession of a total of 28 illicit images stored on his mobile phone, spanning a period from August 2008 to September 2010.According to court proceedings held at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, Allcock had actively engaged in online activities that facilitated the exchange of these disturbing images. It was revealed that he frequented internet chatrooms where he would swap the illicit photographs with other individuals involved in similar activities. The images depicted children aged between six and nine years old, dressed in bathing suits and underwear, highlighting the disturbing nature of his actions.
The police investigation culminated in Allcock's arrest at Alton Towers on September 28, following a thorough inquiry into his online behavior. His apprehension marked a significant step in addressing the distribution of child exploitation material within the region.
During the court hearing, Nicola Bell, representing Allcock, stated that he had resigned from a job he cherished, emphasizing his remorse and the need to understand the reasons behind his actions. She underscored his willingness to accept responsibility and his recognition of the gravity of his conduct.
As part of his sentencing, Allcock was ordered to be under supervision for three years, a measure aimed at monitoring his behavior and preventing any future offenses. Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders' register for a period of five years and mandated to participate in a community sex offender group program. These measures reflect the court's commitment to safeguarding the community and ensuring that individuals like Allcock are held accountable for their actions.
