EDINBURGH DAD SPEAKS OUT AFTER PREDATOR'S CONVICTION FOR ABUSE AND SEXUAL HARM
An Edinburgh father has spoken out about his family's traumatic experience after his teenage son was targeted by a predator nearly twice his age.Marek Dvorak, aged 31, was found guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh on Wednesday, July 22, after a trial that lasted more than a week.
The Czech DJ and music producer was charged with crimes involving three different male victims.
Dvorak was convicted of various offenses, including assault and rape.
He was also found guilty of domestic abuse, which involved physical violence, as well as two additional counts of abusive conduct and sexual misconduct.
One of the victims, a teenage boy, endured over two years of abusive behavior and sexual harm inflicted by Dvorak, beginning when he was only 15 years old.
Under the alias Mark Coppi on social media, Dvorak repeatedly threatened to share videos of himself having sex with the boy with his friends and family.
The charges, covering the period from December 2023 to February 2026, involved multiple locations across Edinburgh.
Dvorak aimed to intimidate the boy by threatening to release videos and images of him, intending to cause fear, distress, or alarm.
After the verdict, the boy’s father told Edinburgh Live: "I'm relieved he was convicted on several charges.
"It was a very tough day, and the process was difficult to get through.
I just hope he receives a long sentence because he truly deserves everything coming to him.
"I was very angry when I saw him in court.
Even though I was giving evidence behind a screen, my partner was watching from the gallery and said he was laughing while I testified." He added, "I refused to let him intimidate me.
People like that need to be exposed so others can see what they’re really like." The jury convicted Dvorak of five charges after his trial.
Between August 2021 and April 2024, he threatened to release a video that appeared to show another victim engaged in sexual activity with someone else, with the intent to cause fear and distress.
The abuse against the teenage boy started when he turned 16.
From March 2023 to January 2024, Dvorak raped one boy and engaged in a pattern of abusive behavior, which included aggressive actions, shouting, swearing, and making derogatory comments about him and his family.
He also made threats of violence, took intimate photographs of the boy, and then threatened to share those images with others.
Additionally, he posted a picture of the boy on a dating site without permission and threatened to reveal his sexual orientation.
On one occasion, Dvorak repeatedly punched the victim in the head and body, kicked him while he was on the ground, grabbed him by the torso, and lifted him to his feet.
Another time, he chased the boy, grabbed him, and pulled him to the ground.
Between July 2024 and February 2026, Dvorak violated his bail conditions by failing without a valid reason to comply with restrictions that prohibited him from contacting or approaching children under 16, directly or indirectly.
Dvorak, whose address was listed as HMP Edinburgh, is scheduled for sentencing at the High Court in Glasgow on September 9.
