HASTINGS CHILD SEX ABUSER MARCUS HANNON AND DYLON QUANTRILL SENTENCED IN SHOCKING CASE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Hastings, a man identified as Marcus Hannon has been sentenced to life imprisonment for his heinous crimes involving the systematic abuse of young girls. The court heard that Hannon, aged 35, engaged in a prolonged campaign of sexual exploitation against four victims, the youngest of whom was only 13 years old. His predatory behavior spanned several years, with evidence revealing a pattern of manipulation and cruelty.

During the trial, it was disclosed that Hannon, along with two accomplices, took one of the victims to the Isle of Wight. There, they subjected her to a disturbing sex game that lasted for multiple days. Jurors were shown evidence including seized luggage containing sex toys, and forensic analysis of the girl’s underwear confirmed the presence of DNA belonging to Hannon and his associate, Dylan Quantrill. The abuse was not limited to the Isle of Wight; the girl was also assaulted during a trip to Manchester, further highlighting the extent of Hannon’s predatory activities.

Both Hannon and Quantrill, who is 20 years old and also from Hastings but currently without a fixed address, were convicted of four counts of rape concerning the same girl. Quantrill received a sentence of nine years in prison and will be subject to extended licence supervision for an additional five years after his release.

In addition to these convictions, a woman aged 39, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found guilty of three counts of child cruelty and attempting to pervert the course of justice. Her actions included trying to persuade a school friend of the victim to alter her statement. She was sentenced to five years in prison.

The second trial, held in June, uncovered further disturbing details. Hannon was found guilty of historic sexual offenses against three other young girls from Sussex and Manchester. The court heard that between 2003 and 2012, Hannon committed eight additional offenses, including six counts of rape and two of gross indecency. One victim, initially under 16, was repeatedly assaulted over several years. He also raped a 15-year-old girl in 2012, whom he had befriended, and a 16-year-old girl in 2013, with whom he was violent during the assault.

Judge Shani Barnes described Hannon as a “cunning” and “manipulative” individual who preyed on “lonely and vulnerable young women,” relentlessly moving from victim to victim and continuing his destructive behavior. She also condemned Quantrill, describing him as a “serious danger to young girls,” emphasizing the grave threat posed by both offenders to the community of Hastings and beyond.
