MARK GREENFIELD SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS IN HASTINGS FOR SEX OFFENCES AGAINST YOUNG GIRL

In a significant legal case that has shocked the community of Hastings, Mark Greenfield, a 47-year-old electrical contractor, has been handed a substantial prison sentence of 16 years following his conviction on serious sexual offence charges involving a young girl. The sentencing took place at Lewes Crown Court on Friday, 9 July, marking the culmination of a lengthy legal process.

Greenfield, who now resides on Elphinstone Road in Hastings, was found guilty on 15 April after an intense eight-day trial. The court heard evidence that led to his conviction on five counts of rape and one count of indecent assault. These offences were committed over a span of several years, specifically between 1998 and 2003, against a girl who was between the ages of 11 and 15 at the time.

The case drew considerable attention due to the nature of the crimes and the duration over which they occurred. The court's decision reflects the severity of Greenfield’s actions and the impact on the victim. As part of his sentence, Greenfield will be registered as a sex offender indefinitely, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.
