MAMDOUH RAMZI SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN BRIGHTON
In December 2019, a man named Mamdouh Ramzi was handed a significant prison sentence following a serious sexual assault incident that took place in Brighton. The 45-year-old, who works as a delivery driver and resides on Tillstone Street in Brighton, was convicted of multiple charges related to the assault and was subsequently sentenced on December 9.
The incident occurred in the early hours of May 17, when Ramzi approached a woman who had become separated from her friends during a night out in Brighton town centre.
Under the pretense of offering her a lift home, Ramzi, who the victim believed to be a taxi driver, convinced her to get into his vehicle at the Old Steine area.
Once inside, he drove her along a lengthy route that diverted from her intended destination, eventually stopping at Stanmer Park.
It was at this secluded location that Ramzi committed a sexual assault against the woman.
The victim’s friends, concerned when she failed to return home, contacted emergency services at approximately 5:20 am.
They became increasingly worried when she did not arrive and, during the call with police, she was able to return home after being dropped off near her residence.
Following the incident, authorities utilized CCTV footage and vehicle registration details to identify Ramzi.
The police arrested him on May 18 on suspicion of kidnapping and sexual assault.
During questioning, Ramzi initially denied having anyone in his vehicle but later changed his account, claiming that the sexual encounter was consensual.
After a thorough investigation and trial, Ramzi was found guilty of several charges, including false imprisonment, sexual assault, and sexual assault by penetration.
As a result, he was sentenced to serve eight years in prison, with an additional four years on extended license.
Furthermore, Ramzi has been placed on the sexual offenders register and was served with an indefinite sexual harm prevention order to protect the public from any future risk.
